Hannah's Story

People sometimes ask me how I find so many stories to write about.

The truth is, I didn’t start off looking for stories.

I simply seemed  to stumble across them.

Being a country veterinarian means my days are spent driving back roads, working in old barns, sitting at farmhouse tables, and meeting people whose kindness always reminds me of the good in the world

Some send me home with a basket of fresh eggs.

Some insist I take home tomatoes from the garden.

Quite often it’s baked goods like warm biscuits or muffins so good I had to ask for the recipe.

Along the way, I’ve collected recipes from what seems like half the farms across the county.

Every farm has its own rhythm.

Every family has its own story.

Every call is another story with its own cast of loveable characters.

And almost every day, I come home thinking, "I wish someone else could have seen that."

One evening, after Walter had settled onto the porch and the coffee had finally gone cold beside me, I realized those little moments deserved more than a place in my memory.

So I began writing them down.

Not because they're extraordinary.

But because they remind me that kindness still lives in quiet places.

If these letters make you smile, slow you down for a little while, or remind you of someone you love, then I'm grateful they found their way to your mailbox.

Thank you for letting me share my little corner of the world with you.
